Meet The Team

Founder & President
Deonta Hampton
Deonta Hampton Known as DJ DStorm was born in Aligator Mississippi, in 1985. I'm a radio personality who spent the last 11 years in radio, worked for numerous stations in and out of Memphis TN. My music journey began in 2005 when I started rapping with this guy name Charles Brooks in Boston MA, where I resided. This is where it all began to make since for me, I've always know I wanted to be a DJ. My first club I DJ'd at was DWV and Chris Dons. I worked with several artist Travis Porter, Kirko Bangz, Young Dolph, PBZ, Waka Flocka Flame, and a list of other artist. I love to play basketball in my spare time. Powerforyouth901 roughly was just a conversation in 2016 with my business partner DJ Smooth. He wanted to start something working with the youth here in Memphis. He passed away in 2017 of a Heart attack, the first thing I wanted to do was give up on everything. One day I started mentoring a young man name Kaleb. working with him made me realize that I wanted to keep Smooth's dream alive, that’s when #powerforyouth901 came into existence. So now it’s (Save A Youth Today For A Better Tomorrow).

Vice President
Chadarica Echols-Jones
Chadarica Echols- Jones, Vice President
My name is Chadarica Echols-Jones, and I proudly serve as the Vice President of Power for
Youth. Since joining the organization in 2021, I’ve been deeply involved in our mission to
support and uplift young people through service, advocacy, and meaningful connection. I’ve had
the honor of helping lead initiatives like our Backpack Drive, Christmas Toy Drive, and Feed the
Homeless events each one focused on meeting the needs of youth and families in our
community.
My passion for working with youth is rooted in my professional experience and a strong
personal commitment to helping young people find purpose and direction. As a former juvenile
probation officer, I’ve worked directly with youth navigating some of the most difficult moments
of their lives. I’ve seen how easily a young person’s future can be derailed by circumstances
beyond their control, but I’ve also seen how transformative the right support can be. Through
that work, I developed a deep understanding of the challenges justice-involved youth face:
unstable home environments, limited access to resources, trauma, and the stigma of having a
record. I’ve never seen these young people as offenders I see them as individuals full of
potential, often just needing someone to believe in them, advocate for them, and help connect
them to the tools they need to thrive.
My experience in community outreach has also shaped how I engage with youth and families.
I’ve built relationships within neighborhoods, facilitated youth programs, and worked to bridge
the gap between at-risk youth and the opportunities they deserve. These experiences have
taught me the value of cultural awareness, consistency, and building trust. I’m motivated every
day by the chance to be a mentor, a resource, and a voice for youth who are often overlooked
or misunderstood. I believe in empowering young people with life skills, education, and the
confidence to shape their own future. For me, this work isn’t just professional it’s personal. It’s a
calling grounded in purpose, compassion, and a deep hope for what our youth can achieve
when given a real chance.

Treasurer
Kim Simmons
My name is Kimberly Simmons, and I am the treasurer for Powerforyouth901. I have been with
the organization since they started in 2021. Since joining this organization, I have been able to
continue to do what I love the most and that’s helping the youth. My passion for helping the
youth has allowed me to help stir this organization in so many ways. I believe in the mission of
our organization and will always dedicate my time to serve it. Being a part of Powerforyouth901
I have been able to participate in so many wonderful things from being with the kids on
Saturdays in the studio to helping with the back-to-school drive and the toy drive.
I have always had a passion for working with children it started early for me in 2001 when I
became a little league football parent. Then from there I became a cheer coach for the little
league and president of the parent organization. Working with the little league I experienced so
much dealing with the kids as well as their parents. This experience taught me so much and
helped me to become the person I am today. Dealing with the youth you must be well rounded
and able to handle anything, I feel like this experience prepared me for that. After the little
league team, I ventured out on my own and started a youth organization for young ladies
surrounded around dance. With this organization we were a dance team, but we also
participated in other thing to help the young ladies with life. We participated in a lot of
community service projects, we fed the homeless, visited the elderly, and spread Christmas
cheer around by putting on a dance show. I have always dedicated my time to the youth in
some way from being a room mom at my kids’ school, working with the youth at church, and
volunteering with other youth organizations. This is more than a passion for me it’s my calling
and I’m willing to give all I have to be successful at it.
My goal with Powerforyouth901 is to help the participants become independent and show them
how to manage money and be successful in life doing whatever they choose to do. I know that
with this program the youth as well as their parents will be successful in life and learn so much. I
am glad that I will be apart of that success.
